The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) awards 5,500 scholarships annually (2,750 each for boys and girls) to the wards and widows of Ex-Servicemen. Over the past five years, the number of girl students receiving scholarships has varied, with a total of 8,350 awarded in 2024-25. The scheme has seen revisions in the number and amount of scholarships to accommodate rising education costs and increased applications.
