Status of Tourist Inflow in India

The Ministry of Tourism reported on the Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India over the past three years, showing a significant increase from 64.37 lakh in 2022 to a provisional 32.41 lakh in 2025 (Jan-April). Foreign Exchange Earnings from tourism also rose from ₹1,69,917 crore in 2022 to ₹98,289 crore in 2025 (Jan-April). The tourism sector's contribution to GDP increased from 1.75% in 2021-22 to a projected 5.22% in 2023-24. The Ministry is promoting tourism through various initiatives and has sanctioned 40 projects for tourism infrastructure development across 23 states.
