Steps Taken to Control Hypertension and Diabetes in India
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has implemented nationwide screening and treatment for hypertension and diabetes for individuals aged 30 and above, diagnosing over 1.11 crore hypertension and 64 lakh diabetes cases from January to June 2025. The initiative includes a comprehensive infrastructure of 770 District NCD Clinics, 233 Cardiac Care Units, and 6410 CHC-level NCD Clinics, supported by trained healthcare workers for follow-ups and counseling. The program aims to enhance early detection and management of non-communicable diseases through community outreach and free access to medications.
