Strengthening India's Borders: The Strategic Role of the Border Roads Organisation
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) plays a critical role in enhancing India's border security and infrastructure. Since its establishment in 1960, the organization has constructed over 64,100 kilometers of roads, 1,179 bridges, and 22 airfields. BRO projects, such as the Delaram-Zaranj Highway in Afghanistan and Project DANTAK in Bhutan, underscore its commitment to regional connectivity. In the fiscal year 2024–25, BRO dedicated 356 infrastructure projects, with plans for expanded development in the coming years.
