Strengthening Weather Forecasting in India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has enhanced its weather forecasting capabilities through advanced technologies like the Monsoon Mission Climate Forecast System (MMCFS) and the Bharat Forecasting System. These systems provide high-resolution forecasts for rainfall and temperature, aiding in better regional planning and disaster response. The government is also addressing coastal flooding through the Coastal Management Information System (CMIS) and expanding seismic monitoring for disaster resilience. Additionally, the Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa (GKMS) program offers agrometeorological advisory services to farmers, helping them make informed agricultural decisions based on weather forecasts.
