Study on Women in Handloom Sector

The Ministry of Textiles has reported that there are over 35 lakh handloom workers in India, with a significant majority being women. A specific study on the income and working conditions of women in this sector has not been conducted by the government, but independent evaluations indicate that interventions have improved earnings and working conditions for weavers. This information was shared by Union Minister Giriraj Singh in the Rajya Sabha.
