Study Unveils Historical Monsoon Patterns in Central India

Researchers from the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences in Lucknow discovered evidence of a significantly stronger Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) in central India between 1,060 and 1,725 CE. By analyzing ancient pollen embedded in lake sediments from Raja Rani Lake in Chhattisgarh, scientists reconstructed past climate conditions, revealing periods of intense rainfall during the Medieval Climate Anomaly. This study enhances understanding of historical hydro-climate variations and could inform future climate projections and policy planning.
