Successful Launch of NISAR Satellite by ISRO and NASA

On July 30, 2025, ISRO successfully launched the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) aboard GSLV-F16 from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. This landmark mission, developed over a decade with a financial sanction obtained in 2015, represents a collaborative effort between ISRO and NASA. Designed for global coverage using L & S-Band microwave imaging, NISAR will collect comprehensive polarimetric and interferometric data to study diverse ecological, geological, and oceanic phenomena. The project's budget exceeded Rs. 800 Crores including development and launch costs. The mission will extend over five years to support scientific inquiries of common interest between the US and Indian research communities.
