Successful Trial of Akash Prime at High Altitude
On July 16, 2025, India successfully tested the Akash Prime missile system, destroying two unmanned aerial targets at high altitude in Ladakh. This upgraded variant of the Akash Weapon System is designed for operations above 4,500 meters and features a new Radio Frequency seeker. The trial, conducted by the Army Air Defence and DRDO in collaboration with various defense PSUs, marks a significant advancement in India's missile development and air defense capabilities, particularly in high-altitude regions. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh praised the achievement as a boost to national defense.
