Support to Mango Farmers: Government Initiatives and Production Estimates

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has announced that mango production for 2024-25 is expected to reach 228.37 Lakh Metric Tonnes, up from 223.98 LMT in 2023-24, primarily due to improved yields in Southern States. To ensure farmers receive fair prices, the government implements the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) and has introduced a Price Differential Payment (PDP) component. The Ministry also supports horticulture development through the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) and various research initiatives by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
