Surge in Foreign Tourist Arrivals in India

The Ministry of Tourism reports a significant increase in Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) and International Tourist Arrivals (ITAs) in India over the past five years, with FTAs rising from 27.45 lakh in 2020 to 99.52 lakh in 2024. Foreign Exchange Earnings from tourism also saw a substantial increase, reaching Rs. 2,93,033 crore in 2024. The tourism sector's contribution to GDP has grown, and employment in the sector has increased from 68.07 million jobs in 2020-21 to 84.63 million in 2023-24.
