Swachh Bharat Mission Continues Success with SBM-U 2.0 and AMRUT 2.0

The Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U), initiated by the Government of India in 2014, aims to make urban areas open defecation free and improve waste management in cities. With a focus on constructing household and community toilets, as well as enhancing municipal solid waste processing, SBM-U 2.0 was launched in 2021. This version seeks to make all cities garbage-free with advanced waste management strategies. Meanwhile, the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) complements SBM-U by improving water supply and sewage management in urban areas, aiming for self-reliant and water-secure cities.
