Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban (SBM-U) 2.0: Achievements and Progress

The Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban (SBM-U) 2.0, launched in October 2021, aims to create Garbage Free Cities with comprehensive waste management and remediation of legacy dumpsites. Under SBM-U 2.0, various components like toilet construction, solid waste management, and capacity building receive Central Share (CS) funds based on approved state action plans. As of now, 80.31% of municipal solid waste is being processed, with 7,783 waste processing facilities established. Moreover, 61% of identified waste from dumpsites has been remediated, transforming them into green zones. The mission also facilitates procurement of mechanical road sweepers in selected towns and cities.
