Tobacco Processing and Value-Addition Infrastructure Update

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has clarified that it does not promote tobacco cultivation. The Tobacco Board regulates Flue cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco production and marketing, ensuring fair prices for farmers. Since 2020-21, farmers' income has increased significantly, with export revenues more than doubling. The ICAR-National Institute for Research on Commercial Agriculture is also involved in research and technology dissemination for tobacco cultivation.
