On November 17, 2025, a bus carrying Indian Umrah pilgrims collided with a fuel tanker on the Medina–Mecca highway, resulting in multiple fatalities. Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, expressed deep shock and condolences to the victims' families.
