TRAI Consultation Paper on Foreign Telecom SIM/eSIM Cards for M2M/IoT Devices

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a consultation paper regarding the regulatory framework for the sale of foreign telecom service providers' SIM/eSIM cards intended for use in M2M/IoT devices meant for export. This follows a request from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for recommendations on the terms and conditions for issuing and renewing no objection certificates (NOC) for the import and sale of these cards. Stakeholders are invited to submit comments by August 1, 2025, and counter-comments by August 18, 2025.
