TRAI Evaluates Mobile Network Quality in Udupi District

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) conducted an Independent Drive Test (IDT) in Udupi District, Karnataka, to assess mobile network services offered by various Telecom Service Providers (TSPs). The tests were conducted between March 17th and March 20th, 2026, across different locations including city drives, hotspots, highways, and coastal areas. The evaluation assessed key Quality of Service (QoS) metrics like coverage gaps, call drop rates, call silence instances, and data throughput for various technologies like 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G. The results, which indicated performance variances among service providers like Airtel, BSNL, RJIL, and VIL, have been published to inform consumers and push TSPs towards service improvement.
