TRAI Launches Digital Consent Management Pilot Project
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has initiated a pilot project for digital consent management in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and select banks. This project aims to address the issue of spam complaints by enabling businesses to obtain and verify consumer consent digitally, thus enhancing the legitimacy of commercial communications. The pilot will validate the operational and regulatory aspects of the new consent registration framework, focusing initially on the banking sector due to its sensitivity to spam-related fraud.
