TRAI Responds to DoT on CNAP Recommendations

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a response to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) regarding the back-reference dated 26.09.2025, concerning TRAI's recommendations from 23.02.2024 on the Introduction of Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) Service in the Indian Telecommunication Network. TRAI's recommendations were initially requested by DoT in March 2022, and after stakeholder consultations, TRAI provided its recommendations in February 2024. The DoT has now sought reconsideration on certain aspects of these recommendations, which TRAI has addressed in its latest response, now available on its website.
