TRAI Tightens Regulation on Spam Telemarketers in 2025

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) strengthened its enforcement actions against spam telemarketing in 2025, issuing over 7 lakh notices to unregistered telemarketers and imposing restrictions on 5.6 lakh violators. The effective use of the Do Not Disturb (DND) ecosystem led to over 17 lakh spam complaints, highlighting enhanced consumer engagement. TRAI's dual strategy has improved the regulation of consent-based communications and reinforced measures against non-compliant entities.
