On July 25, 2025, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla and other dignitaries paid floral tributes to former Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Somnath Chatterjee in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, commemorating his birth anniversary. Shri Chatterjee, who served as Speaker from 2004 to 2009, was recognized for his significant contributions to Indian parliamentary democracy, including the launch of Lok Sabha Television and the establishment of a Parliamentary Museum. He was awarded the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in 1996 for his dedication to parliamentary values.
