Union Budget 2026–27 Highlights India's Confidence and Growth

Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, articulated how the Union Budget 2026–27 signifies India's confidence and progress post-2014. The budget reportedly meticulously balances growth and fiscal prudence. India's GDP growth is projected at 7.4% for the FY26, making it the fastest-growing major economy globally for the fourth consecutive year. A notable achievement in reducing inflation to 1.8% in 2025 was highlighted alongside significant capital expansion in sectors like defence, health, and infrastructure. Notable strides in education have been made with increases in IITs, IIMs, and medical institutions, alongside substantial expansions in road and air transport infrastructure. Furthermore, initiatives towards sustainable growth, such as a ₹20,000 crore CCUS Mission and duty exemptions for green technologies, are also key highlights of the budget.
