Union Cabinet Approves ₹1 Lakh Crore RDI Scheme

On July 1, the Union Cabinet approved a Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme with a total outlay of ₹1 lakh crore over six years, allocating ₹20,000 crore for FY 2025–26. The scheme focuses on strategic technology sectors including energy security, climate action, and deep technologies like AI and quantum computing. Financing will be through long-term loans and equity, excluding grants and short-term loans. The Department of Science & Technology will oversee the implementation, targeting projects with a Technology Readiness Level of 4 and above.
