Union Cabinet Approves Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV

The Union Cabinet approved the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV) to construct 62,500 km of all-weather roads, connecting 25,000 previously unconnected habitations with a total financial outlay of ₹70,125 crore as part of an effort to enhance rural infrastructure. The scheme uses Census 2011 data for population benchmark, with relaxed criteria for specific areas like Hill States, North-Eastern Regions, and areas affected by LWE. Social inclusivity is prioritized through integration with other schemes benefiting ST and SC habitations. The announcement was made by Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Kamlesh Paswan in the Lok Sabha.
