Union Cabinet Sanctions Rs.37,500 Cr for Coal Gasification
India's Union Cabinet has approved a significant Rs.37,500 crore Scheme to advance surface coal and lignite gasification projects under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The initiative seeks to further India's coal/lignite gasification efforts to achieve 100 Million Tonnes by 2030, bolster energy security, lessen import dependence, and boost indigenous technology growth. Notably, the Scheme provides a long-term coal linkage framework and aims to attract Rs.2.5-3.0 lakh crore in investments and create 50,000 jobs.
