Union Government Allocates ₹680 Crores to Strengthen PRIs in West Bengal

The Government of India has released ₹680.71 crores as the first instalment of Untied Grants under the Fifteenth Finance Commission for Rural Local Bodies in West Bengal for the financial year 2025-26. This funding supports 3,224 Gram Panchayats, 335 Block Panchayats, and 21 Zilla Parishads, emphasizing the government's commitment to enhancing grassroots governance and service delivery. A total of ₹4,181.23 crores has been allocated to West Bengal over the last two financial years, including both Untied and Tied Grants for various development initiatives.
