Union Health Minister Highlights India's Healthcare Achievements at Convocation
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, highlighted significant advancements in India's healthcare sector during the 8th Convocation Ceremony at Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun. Key improvements noted include a rise in institutional deliveries to 89%, a drop in the Maternal Mortality Ratio to 88 per lakh live births, and a reduction in the Infant Mortality Rate to 27 per thousand live births. Shri Nadda emphasized the success of the Ayushman Bharat–PMJAY scheme, which now covers around 40% of India's population. The Minister also emphasized India's rapid progress in reducing the Under-5 Mortality Rate and tuberculosis incidence compared to global averages.
