Union Minister Urges Fisheries Sector Registration Under NFDP

During a Fisheries Outreach Programme in Thrissur, Union Minister of State Shri George Kurian called for active registration under the National Fisheries Development Programme (NFDP) to ensure insurance coverage and welfare benefits for the fishing community. He highlighted infrastructure developments, including the redevelopment of fishing harbours and the establishment of facilities in nine coastal villages, fully funded by the Central Government. The Minister emphasized the importance of increasing fisheries production and supporting cooperative societies of fish farmers, urging unity in achieving the Prime Minister's vision for a developed India by 2047.
