Union New & Renewable Energy Minister Sets Ambitious Rooftop Solar Installations Target
India is set to achieve 75 lakh rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana by December 2026, according to the Union New & Renewable Energy Minister, Shri Pralhad Joshi. The initiative, further accelerated by the innovative Utility-Linked Aggregation model, seeks to expand affordable clean energy access, benefiting households consuming between 1 kW to 3 kW. This rapid growth in India’s solar sector aligns with national targets to enhance energy access, security, and self-reliance amid global uncertainties, with expectations of full nationwide rooftop solar adoption by 2047.
