Update on EMRS in Odisha: Progress and Challenges

As of December 2025, out of the 111 sanctioned Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) in Odisha, 47 are operational while 64 are under various phases of construction. The delay in construction is attributed to issues such as lack of encumbrance-free land and inadequate road access. The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) has initiated recruitment drives to fill 10,391 teaching and non-teaching positions, with further plans to fill 7,267 more roles. To maintain educational standards, these schools are equipped with modern facilities like smart classrooms and laboratories.
