Update on Forest Rights Act Implementation

The Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Durgadas Uikey, reported in Rajya Sabha that as of May 31, 2025, over 51 lakh claims have been filed under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) across 20 states and 1 Union Territory. Approximately 49% of these claims have resulted in title distributions. The Ministry is urging state governments to ensure eligible claimants receive their rights and is promoting awareness campaigns to enhance understanding of the FRA. Financial support is being provided for establishing dedicated FRA cells to facilitate the claims process.
