The Gorakhpur Nuclear Power Project, consisting of two twin units of 700 MW each, is currently under construction and expected to be completed by 2031-32. Excavation began in 2018, but delays have occurred due to weak soil conditions requiring remediation. Despite these challenges, procurement of major equipment is underway, and construction of peripheral structures is ongoing. Full-scale construction of the main nuclear island will commence once ground improvement activities are completed and regulatory clearance is obtained.
