The responsibility for water quality lies with State/UT Governments, with BIS standards as benchmarks. A handbook for monitoring water quality was released in December 2024, emphasizing comprehensive testing and remedial actions. Citizens can report grievances through various channels. The JJM has been extended until 2028 with increased funding to ensure sustainable water service delivery.
