UPSC Unveils Face Authentication for Fair Exams

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has introduced a face authentication protocol in the Civil Services Examination 2026 to combat impersonation and ensure examination integrity. The new system, developed with the National e-Governance Division and the Ministry of Electronics and IT, allows real-time candidate authentication using invigilators' smartphones. This cost-effective solution enhances transparency and fairness by eliminating the possibility of impersonation, with face verification taking only 6-8 seconds. Over 7,000 invigilators successfully authenticated candidates across 2,072 venues using this technology, marking a significant advancement in public examination processes.
