Wastage of Vegetables Due to Lack of Processing Facilities

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has reported significant post-harvest losses in fruits (6.02-15.05%) and vegetables (4.87-11.61%) due to inadequate processing facilities. To combat this, MoFPI has implemented various schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) and the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI), aimed at enhancing processing capacity and reducing waste. As of June 2025, 1601 projects have been approved under PMKSY, with substantial financial assistance provided to entrepreneurs for infrastructure development.
