Water Scarcity in India: Districts and Initiatives
The Ministry of Jal Shakti has reported that 102 districts in India are over-exploited, 22 are critical, and 69 are semi-critical regarding groundwater resources. The Jal Shakti Abhiyan, launched in 2019, aims to address water scarcity through various campaigns, including 'Catch the Rain'. The 2025 campaign focuses on grassroots engagement and innovative financing in 148 high-priority districts.
