Welfare Schemes for Women Handloom Weavers in India

The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is implementing schemes like the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) and the Raw Material Supply Scheme (RMSS) to support handloom weavers, including women. These initiatives provide financial assistance for raw materials, upgraded looms, solar lighting, workshed construction, skill development training, and marketing support. While there is no specific provision for women weavers, they receive 100% subsidy for workshed construction under NHDP. A total of 14,177 women weavers have been skilled under the SAMARTH scheme over the last three years.
