Workshop on Measuring Knowledge Economy Held in New Delhi

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) organized a brainstorming workshop on the measurement of the knowledge economy in New Delhi, attended by over 70 participants from various sectors. The workshop aimed to develop a taxonomy of knowledge products and identify quantitative indicators for measuring their contribution to GDP. Discussions included the challenges of capturing indigenous knowledge and the need for a comprehensive Knowledge Economy Satellite Account for India. Breakout sessions focused on various types of knowledge, leading to the identification of significant knowledge items for measurement, despite challenges in valuation.
