BIS Publishes New Standards for Assistive Products in India
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced six new standards for priority assistive products to enhance accessibility for persons with disabilities, elderly individuals, and those with non-communicable diseases. These standards focus on mobility aids like elbow crutches, walking sticks, portable ramps, and accessible design for tactile guide maps and braille signage. This initiative supports the Accessible India Campaign and aligns Indian products with international benchmarks, fostering innovation and export opportunities for domestic manufacturers.
