Cabinet Approves Increased Fair and Remunerative Price for Sugarcane Farmers

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a new Fair and Remunerative Price for sugarcane at Rs.365 per quintal for the 2026-27 season. This decision aims to support approximately 5 crore sugarcane farmers and 5 lakh workers employed in related sectors. The sugarcane price is based on a recovery rate of 10.25%, with adjustments made for variations in recovery. No deduction will apply for sugar mills with recovery rates below 9.5%. The approved price is notably higher than both the production cost and the previous year's price, demonstrating the government's continued commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.
