Cabinet Approves New CoalSETU Window for Coal Linkage Auctions

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sanctioned a new policy called the CoalSETU window under the NRS Linkage Policy. This initiative allows long-term auction-based allocation of coal linkages for industrial use and export, expanding access without end-use restrictions, except for resale in India. The plan aims to enhance the domestic coal linkage process, optimize resource utilization, and decrease reliance on coal imports. Coal holders can use up to 50% of their linkage for exports, thus promoting sub-sectors like coal washery with potential export benefits.
