CBIC Announces One-Time Relief for SEZ Manufacturing Units Amidst Trade Disruptions
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has announced a one-time relief for manufacturing units in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), allowing them to sell goods in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) at concessional customs duty rates. This move, anchored in the Union Budget 2026-27, seeks to help SEZs navigate global trade disruptions. Effective April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027, the relief is contingent upon a minimum 20% value addition and limits DTA sales to 30% of the highest export performance in recent years.
