CCPA Imposes Penalties on Coaching Institutes for Misleading Advertisements

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has fined Dikshant IAS and Abhimanu IAS ₹8,00,000 each for misleading advertisements and unfair trade practices. The penalties were imposed after successful UPSC candidates reported unauthorized use of their names and photographs in promotional materials. The CCPA found that both institutes made false claims regarding their success rates and failed to provide evidence to support their advertisements, violating the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
