Election Commission of India Reports Seizures of Over Rs 865 Crores in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal
The Election Commission of India announced that seizures worth over Rs 865 crores were made in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal during the General Elections and bye-elections of 2026. The seizures included cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, and other freebies as part of efforts to ensure conduction of free and fair elections. Enforcement agencies were instructed to act promptly to prevent election-related malpractices, with 5011 Flying Squad Teams and 5363 Static Surveillance Teams deployed.
