Establishment of ITIs Under Skill Development Program

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) oversees the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to enhance youth skills. Currently, there are 14,615 ITIs in India, with 3,316 government and 11,299 private institutions. The administration of ITIs is managed by state governments, while the central government sets policies for affiliation and curriculum. Recently, 400 ITIs were de-affiliated for not admitting trainees. Since 2014, approximately 1.37 crore candidates have been trained under the CTS.
