Expansion of Central Forensic Science Laboratories in India

The Ministry of Home Affairs of India announced an expansion under the National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme (NFIES), approving the establishment of seven new Central Forensic Science Laboratories (CFSLs) in Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan with an outlay of ₹860.3 crore. Additionally, a new lab in Samba, Jammu & Kashmir has also been approved. These expansions add to the existing seven accredited CFSLs located across various Indian cities, strengthening the country's forensic capabilities.
