FIU IND Issues Notices to 25 Offshore VDA Service Providers for Non-Compliance
The Financial Intelligence Unit of India (FIU IND) has issued notices to 25 offshore Virtual Digital Assets Service Providers (VDA SPs) for non-compliance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002. This action is part of ongoing compliance measures to ensure that entities catering to Indian users are registered and adhere to anti-money laundering regulations. The notices also include directives for the takedown of applications and URLs operating illegally in India. Currently, 50 VDA SPs are registered with FIU IND, and the regulation mandates compliance regardless of the physical presence of these entities in India.
