Increased Women Participation in India's Paramilitary Forces

The Ministry of Home Affairs has reiterated its commitment to enhancing women's representation in India's paramilitary forces by outlining specific recruitment targets and supporting infrastructure. As of the financial year 2024-25, a total of 3,239 women were recruited across CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and SSB, with plans to raise this number to 5,171 in 2025-26. Facilities such as separate accommodations, creches, and women-centric health support are provided to create a conducive working environment. The government also conducts gender sensitization workshops and employs gender-sensitive operational protocols.
