India Allocates ₹20,050 Crore for Fisheries Infrastructure Until 2026
The Department of Fisheries, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), investing ₹20,050 crore from FY 2020-21 to FY 2025-26 for fisheries infrastructure across India. Projects include fishing harbours, fish landing centres, and integrated aquaparks. The Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) supplements these efforts with ₹7,522.48 crore for training centres and fish processing units. Tamil Nadu, a significant beneficiary, received approvals for ₹1,237.57 crore in projects under PMMSY.
