India Invests in Bio-Waste Derived Sodium-Ion Battery Technology
The Technology Development Board (TDB) of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, has funded Indigenous Energy Storage Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Roorkee, Uttarakhand for a project on commercializing bio-waste-derived hard carbon for sodium-ion batteries. This initiative aims to develop cost-effective, sustainable battery technologies by utilizing agricultural and bio-waste to produce anode materials for sodium-ion batteries, which are a promising alternative to lithium-ion systems. The project supports energy storage solutions for various applications and advances India’s energy transition goals.
